The current social media/community paradoxWhat we see today in an average community management/social media strategy is what we call a vertical approach. Each channel being managed separately, with its own KPIs and content, slightly connected to the umbrella communication strategy. The challenge we have been observing across all indie developers we have relationships with is that there is not actual integration along those platforms, therefore a complicated task of actually managing to:a. Have each social media to deliver reach (their algorithms are programmed to make the client spend money on campaigns, promising to deliver qualified traffic, but that does not happen, even delivering very expensive CPA or low LTV users);b. Integrate communication. If your fandom is scattered among X numbers of channels, you have to communicate the same thing X times, with X-Y reach, leading to high overhead and low results;c. The communication channel will penalize the company for doing their own content - user-generated content is king.That said, Gameplan group of social media scientists came up with a patent-pending strategy that achieves amazing results through a real paradigm change, transforming a vertical approach into a horizontal one.
